Expat families with children are very welcome. Paediatric dental checkups are fully covered under Dutch basic insurance (basisverzekering) for children up to 18 years. We make dental visits fun and stress-free for your little ones.

How Dutch dental insurance works

New to the Netherlands? Here's what you need to know about dental coverage.

Basic insurance (basisverzekering)

Mandatory for everyone in the Netherlands. Covers dental care for children up to 18, including checkups, fillings and orthodontics. For adults, only specialist dental surgery and some prosthetics are covered.

Supplementary insurance (aanvullend)

Optional, but highly recommended for adults. Covers regular checkups, fillings, crowns and more — depending on your plan. Most expats benefit from adding a "tandarts" package to their health insurance.

What does it cost without insurance?

All dental fees in the Netherlands are set by the NZa (Dutch Healthcare Authority). We follow these standard rates — no surprises. A regular checkup costs approximately €25–€35, and we always provide a clear cost estimate before treatment.

How to register

Simply fill in our online registration form or call us. You'll need your BSN (citizen service number) and insurance details. Don't have insurance sorted yet? No problem — we can still see you. You'll receive a clear invoice.
